Does Internet allow for multiple users at Remoterig connects?

I was wondering when operating Remoterig, is the Internet still available for my roommate to use the Internet for e-mail too, or, is the Internet taken over completely while using Remoterig?

Hi Dave,

Others can still use the internet while using RemoteRig.  However, depending on your internet connection speed you may notice some dropped packets with too much demand on your network.

I use Remoterig, and have multiple users on the internet on both ends.  You can run into interference problems, mainly with the VOIP audio.  The audio from the remote is an "upload" at that site, so if another user sends enough stuff "up" to increase the latency beyond buffer limits, the audio will break up.

The same problem can occur with cw keying in the other direction.

I use a cisco router at the remote end that automatically prioritizes VOIP traffic to prevent the audio breakups.  It doesn't solve the keying problem in the other direction, but I have not observed a problem in operation.

The latency behavior of the internet service at both ends is critical.  At my remote site, only WISP (Wireless ISP) is available.  Of three services tried, only one maintains a reliably low latency.  And for that to work well, I had to buy more bandwidth than I expected.
