 Does anyone know how to make a homebrew usb program cabel for the Yaesu ft1900r from an old usb cable...If so please send me the info...I have looked all over the internet and cant seem to find any info on it...thanks for your time

Two suggestions....

1- Try the Radio Shack cable designed for programming their scanners.  i don't know if you need a USB-to-RS-232 converter.

2. I have had success with break-out boards from Sparkfun.com.  I have used one for the FTDI232 device for ICOM CI-V (similar to Yeasu CAT).  It connects to USB cable at one end, and has outputs at the other for rs-232. You will need to use the RX, TX and ground terminals.  Check your manual for plug details, but i think it's a 1/8 stereo phone plug.
