Hi Everybody i am thinking to add a amplifier to the mobile anybody has any comments o the ameritron 500 for mobile use

It is a non FET amp based on old proven finals. I would "suggest" that you run it at 400 watts or so as IMD would be a bit better (not that it is real bad) and it should give a long service life.

I had an ALS-500 and liked it. It needs 14 volts to get near full power. For every volt less it loses 80 watts of RF output.
