The old style dog bones have been around since the Radiola days and if you look at the schizmatic for an early Atwater Kent you'll see the color code was one color... There were only about 10-12 values and if you were doing a repair you'd trot down to the local radio parts place and buy an Atwater Kent "tan" resistor. As for wattage, I think there were three sizes: Small, Medium and Large. Maybe less.

Although accuracy wasn't invented until the late 30's, you may find the dog bone resistor is remarkably close to spec. The factory cut them to length and tested. If they hit a standard value they were painted. If not they'd be trimmed to the next lower value and tested again. Half watt carbon comp parts were made the same way. If a batch of 10k resistors came out a little low it became a batch of 9.7k resistors. Labor intensive by today's standards but not unlike the way custom crystals are still made.

Should have been three strips of the orange silicone tape I mentioned last week. Maybe four strips, I've slept since then.

I wasn't going to mention it but what you didn't get was a couple strips of Teflon tape. Not talking about the plumber's stuff, this is 1" wide, sticky on one side with peel-off paper and about 1/16" thick. Natural PTFE with that creamy white translucent look and a surface feel that only Teflon has. Dielectric strength would be up around 50 kV or better. Very cool stuff. Didn't send it because it's semi-rigid and took a set on the spool that wanted to curl the envelope. Figured it would have gotten mangled had I tried.

If I've taught you anything you will reply with something to the effect that you threw out a whole case of the Teflon stuff last month so it's no prob.

Just don't ask me to mail you a matched pair of NOS coke bottle 6L6's........... 

PS: Yeah, it's a typo. .0035 mmf is so slight there's that much capacitance floating around in the wiring.
