I am getting into CW now and I need to know what filter to install in my FT890. I plan on ragchewing and emergency communications, am not interested in contesting. Any recommendations?

Not sure if this will help, but since no one else has answered... I have an IC706MKIIG, and I bought both the wide and narrow CW filters for it. I use the narrow all the time, ragchew or contest, and never use the wide.

If you can have but a single CW filter, I recommend a 500 Hz.  I don't know what the bandwidth of the "narrow" CW filter is for the 890, but suspect it's 250 Hz or so.  I find that I use the 250 Hz filters very little in my Icom 765 - only for weak signal DX work on 160.  I have an FT-900 also (think that's similar electrically to the 890) and have the 500 Hz CW filter in that and find it very adequate.
