Forgotten now is that Radio Shack was once a major seller of ham equipment thru the 60s. Interesting too to remember their early hifi offerings.

And the 1939 catalog (Shack's first)  featuring the Hallicrafters Dual Diversity receiver with "Infinite Adjacent channel rejection."

Something new for 1939:  Amphenol "Co-axial cable"  at 35 cents a foot with "braided cotton cover."  (p 37 bottom right)

Great memories!!  I think there is a site for all the old Lafayette Radio catalogs as well.

It is hard for me to believe that Radio Shack existed in 1939, at the start of World War II. Hams and the public could buy receivers and listen to world conflict from their living room. That must have been exciting! Grin

My how their marketing strategy has changed and their customer base has declined.  Wink
