Hello, I am in need of a new rotor I will be replacing an alpha spid . I have approx 15 foot of windloading now on the tower .  I am looking for a good heavy duty rotor good for around 20 ft. pound wind load and reliable . The tower is a universal free standing aluminum tower up 60 feet .   thanks  John kb2huk

I have the M2 Orion and I'm very happy with it.  For some reason a few hams have had bad results with this rotator.  A rotator gets a lot of abuse and it's out in the elements.  I can't think of a perfect rotator that will last forever.  For the money the Orion is one heck of a rotator.  You do want to put money in a good rotator as you really don't want it to break in the middle of the winter.  Without a working rotator your awesome antenna with a huge F/B ratio will become useless.

for 15 ft, either a tx2 or 45 or the yaesu 800 will work just fine

I think the best buy in a rotor is to get one of Norm's rebuilt units. 
They are all hand done, done right and less $ than new.
