Using an Icom SM-8 on a Yaesu FT-857

I would like to use my SM-8 on my 857.  From the schematics I've seen, it LOOKS doable.

Has anybody done this?

I plan to connect via the "line B" on the SM-8.  I will most likely have to solder the wire to the connector due to finances, that is, not having any!!

Yes , it is possible!..
Simply write down the wire colour and function as it is wired to the ICOM plug configuration.
Rewire plug correctly using this data to the Yaesu configuration.
REDUCE the level beneath the SM-8 to low and reduce the audio output on the level pot.
Just the up / down control that might not work--also be careful NOT to short out the 8v supply from the Yaesu--check your wiring carefully.

I use the SM-8 on my Kenwoods after rewiring the plug, and it works FB!

Use one of the adapters sold on ebay & you will not need to rewire it.
