Mozilla is aggressively upgrading version numbers of Firefox and released 7.0 yesterday and 7.01 today. 6.0 is but a month old. 8.x is due out in November. I think part of it is that the want to get up to same version number (or better) than MS Internet explorer. 64 bit beta is still 9.x so looks like it will be released soon when Firefox 32 bit hits 9.x after first of year.

I ran into problems with upgrading to FF 7.0 on the Debian Stable box out at the farm.  Seems the GLX (3D) library is too old and FF 7.0 dies on startup.  I downgraded it to 6.02 and told my brother to tell it No when it asks to upgrade!
