Hi folks. I have a 3 year old Ameritron Al-1500 that started to make all kinds of bad electrical snap crackle and pops. It was on standby and I had only transmitted about 4 times in the 2 hours leading up to this. I am not qualified nor do I intend to try to learn on this amp. What are my options for getting it repaired. I know Ameritron will repair it. I am in northeast Ohio and was hoping that there might be a authorized technician in my area. I am open to all suggestions on where to have it repaired. Thanks Russ

I don't kow that there are any "authorized" repairs available anywhere except at Ameritron.  AES near Cleveland (Wickliffe OH) may be able to evaluate it for you.  But they'll likely charge you an hour or two of bench time to look at it which will cost you the same or more than shipping to Ameritron.  And there's a good chance you'd have to send it to the factory for repair anyway.  Since you're not qualified or inclined to learn, th best bet is to call Ameritron.
