I´m interested in tips and experiences about paddle-bases. I bought a palm mini paddle (nearly love it) and fixed its regular little mounting-base with screws on the wooden board carrying my logs, dupe-sheet etc at outdoor contest-locatons. Now I´m looking for a base for the palm-paddle to use it anywhere on any table (having no shack at home). So am looking for a little but heavy base and feet with grip. Sorry in advance if it´s too simple a question.

I made a straight key base the other night using a 3/8" copper plate I found at a local metal recycling yard.  Being late in the evening, I was looking for something on hand to help keep it in one place.  I had some tool drawer liner material intended to keep tools from rattling around.  This material looks like rubber coated window screen.  I glued a patch of this under the copper plate, and it sticks to the table very well.
