I'm trying to get a feel for whether or not it makes any sense contacting other US stations in this weekend's CQWWCW contest. There are no points given. What's the strategy then: to listen just for multipliers like zones and countries and ignore other US stations?

Since there are no points for domestic Q's,
there is no sense contacting them...

UNLESS...

They are a zone or country multiplier for you.
If they are a needed multiplier, BY ALL MEANS, CALL THEM !

The US counts as a DXCC country so there's 5 multipliers right there (one for each band). So you should at least have 5 QSO's with your home country.

Then there are zones 3, 4, & 5 per band. Those can be worked by working VE for points, but if you haven't and you need the zone...
