Malpelo should not be a problem, as this will be a chip shot for all of us here in the US and North America.....and for SA too.....That one is first and foremost......What say you???...What's on your agenda dx wise for the new year???

Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran, and Brunei. Those are the "easy" ones I still need. If I got those AND some of the announced DXpeditions I would be very happy.

In the CQ DX Marathon I hope to do better than this year. This year I finished at 225 countries/40 zones in formula class (100 watts with dipoles/verticals). Next year I am shooting for 250/40.

Well, my DX goal was to reach 300 confirmed in 5 years, but..... since I logged my first DX in Feb. of 2006, I obviously did not make it Embarrassed) So, since I am still sitting at 297 worked and 296 confirmed, my goal for 2012 is to reach 303 confirmed by the end of the year. The first 2 should be reasonably easy, and we shall see from there. I think 150 - 200 on Diamond DXCC should be doable as well.
If I can rig up an 80 meter antenna, here on my matchbox sized lot, I will shoot for 5BDXCC, and that one should be reachable. 5BWAZ??  Nah, not yet, maybe 2013, 2014 Huh.  GL to all....... Gene AF3Y

Cheez Whiz!!!...How could I forget....That tiny little zit on the map, where the blue bloods, and royals, and rich and famous play....Where the casinos operate all night.....Where the Grimaldi's have ruled for centuries.....Yes ladies and gents....that all elusive thorn in my butt....MONACO!!!!!...I am on a mission in 2012 to finally bag this one...(as I say this every year).....Sadly, though, with all of the simplicity in working most of Europe from my location, I think Malpelo will be an easier catch!...... Roll Eyes........

If you are at 297/296 in 5 years (esp. the last 5 years) you are doing pretty darn good.  I am sitting at 294/288 after 22 years, although that does include some down time, including most of the last peak.  My totals picked up A LOT when I switched from a 2 EL compact yagi to a 3 EL Mosley.  One advantage I do have is I have some currently unavailables confirmed, such as Navassa and Desecheo.

Anyway aside from HK0, my somewhat reasonable expectations once we come out of the winter doldrums include:

YA
YI
EP
A5
XX9
XU
TT (Confirmed but not DXCC-approved)
9V
AP
SV-A (gotta get they RTTY up and running, shame on me)
1S (If it actually happens)

I don't think anything else I need is on or scheduled.

I thought I saw something brewing with FW Wallis/Futuna someplace...Does anyone know of this???...that's another one on the goal list......Yeah, better get that RTTY set up going, as our friend the Monk is pretty much resigned to working RTTY (to keep the Monastery quiet)....Glad I bagged Athos back in '02 on SSB.....

Iran...haven't managed to be on when one of the active ops are.

T33...was delayed till Jan/Feb 2012, haven't seen an update, so that may still be a maybe. I completely spaced and missed the last op in 2008

Spratly...there was an announcement in September about the Malaysian Amateur Radio Transmitter Society trying the first two weeks in April, 2012, but no follow up yet. Fingers crossed.

HK0NA.....hopefully, this one won't be a problem.

KH3/W7KFI.....I never got my one qso with KH3 confirmed, so hopefully Susan can get her boat hull cleaned to spec and make this one happen.

So if the stars align properly, I might get to add 4 new ones and confirm another in 2012.

Everything else announced as of now I already have.

I only have 33 worked, 28 confirmed on 160m, so better antennas is a project for this year.

Have fun, work some DX  Smiley Put up some directional wire antennas for Asia. Hang another 30m half-square for north/south.

upgrade my radio from the TS-2000X to either the FT-5000MP or the Orion 2 ...sitting at 228 confirmed and need a boost maybe dual receive will do the trick

Vince, 3A2LF has been rather active on 12m lately. Should be a piece of cake from W3.

You know, it's funny how some of the "Hard" ones for me are on others confirmed list and vice-versa.  I worked Wallis (FW5RE) in Sept. of 09 on 2 or 3 bands/modes.  Monaco, once I got one, was easy, and I worked both 3A2MD and 3A2LF in 2010, about a month apart. Of course a few of you guys have entities that have not been active since I started in 2006. No way I could have worked those.

As far as Monk Apollo, I dont particularly like the idea of having to work RTTY to land him, and I understand he is seldom on CW now, and never(?) on phone. Just my opinion, but he should have to work more than RTTY to hold status as a DXCC entity. (Of course, IF I had him in the log, I probably would not feel that way Grin.)
Good luck to all on your 2012 goals!! Gene

He was on 10 ssb some the last couple of months, Gene.

Not very frequently, and I didn't work him.

I did work him on 12m RTTY back in Sept, after never hearing him on any mode.

Then 10m RTTY 8 days later.

Hope you get.

The monk has been relatively active on 10m ssb lately (often sundays)... must admit he had a very odd operating style in terms of working the pile-up, saying he had a list but what he was really doing was just picking up suffixes from those tail-ending. Seems like madness and very bad practise, but the qso rate was amazingly high... once people realised what he was actually doing.

I'm glad you don't run DXCC Cheesy

I don't like it when RTTY is the only option, mostly because I hate RTTY pileups, but I suck it up.  For a long time the only 1A station I had was 1A0KM on 20m RTTY.  Rather have RTTY than nothing.
