I heard that they had a mobile unit coming out.  Is it true that it will be all mode?

I hope so! Any cost effective competition is desireable.  Grin

I was just told last week not to hold one's breath for this mobile Wouxun rig appearing any time soon in the U.S. market. My source was a very good one.

Thanks Clint!  I can finally breath again.  I have been holding my breath for over a year now with my name on the list.  I didn't know how much longer I could hold out, I was starting to feel a little bit dizzy.

I was very excited about this radio. However, that was almost 2 years ago...... By the time it comes out its going to be obsolete unless it has something awesome that I'm not aware of. Its to bad, I'm sure they will do fine but if it didn't take so long I'm sure they would have sold way more.

I really want to see some specs before I start holding my breath.

Looks like a dual band - cross repeat - dual receive, but the descriptions don't even say how many watts.  Hope its at least 65w VHF / 50w UHF.

Wish they would throw us a bone.  Maybe then I'd get a hankering for meat.

I have the product brochure with the spec but it is in Chinese. You can still pick out most of the relevant detail (except when they can supply it!). I did actually see it in Shanghai but on the Wouxun stand not for sale. Looks good but who knows what the problems are. Don't know if I can attached files here, but could email to anyone who wants the spec.
Cheers

I'm sure the Chinese will have it on the market after they finish reverse-engineering a quality ICOM, Yaesu, or Kenwood product that they bought at HRO. (Don't support thieves) Angry

UK supplier - Martin Lynch has announced it will be in store in July - about 100 pounds cheaper than the FT-8800 which it would compare to.

I'm not sure about comparing it to the FT-8800 yet.

The 8800 has far wider recieve, plus it has AM airband RX - which the spec sheet for the Wouxun seems to say it doesn't have.

That said, the spec sheet is all over the place. One part says 65-200MHz RX, FM only with 100kHz spacing. Another says 2-30MHz AM.

ML&S say £229 inc. VAT in July - I'm still not holding my breath.

Ed at wouxun.us updated the page yesterday to say that Wouxun told him that the KG-UV920R will be available in July. Doesn't say July of what year, though.

The Main Trading Company site at http://www.maintradingcompany.com is carrying the announcement: “Wouxun KG-UV920R Dual Band Mobile coming in July.”  They include a link to get e-mail updates with up to the minute information.
