Have any of you gentlemen put a frequency display
in a Hendricks BITX20A 10 watt SSB rig
other than the one offered by the seller
qrpkits.com?

I bought the counter kit from Doug Pongrance, N3ZI
with a nice, backlit LCD display.
http://www.pongrance.com/ddfc-cc.html
A nice feature is that the N3ZI Counter Board can be
connected to several types of displays as it has
connectors for 14 & 16 pin in-line, 14/16 pin 2 row,
and 10 pin serial.

I did this because the display offered with the Hendricks
kits looks kinda cheesy with the old fashioned 7 segment
LED display, and is overpriced at $35 plus $7 shipping.

The N3ZI kit is also more versatile AND cheaper
at $24 plus $2.99 Shipping.

It's a sweet little rig but I bought mine when they
still offered a "Board & Parts Only" version for about $90.
Now you can ONLY get it with the enclosure, frequency counter,
and hardware kit for $180. Pass on that unless
I REALLY wanted the 17m version, which sounds kinda cool.

Hi there,

Nothing preventing you from building it as a 17M version, or even a 40M version. All the documentation is out there. All you need to do is source the additional components.

As for your counter, it's just a matter of programming the correct offset (11mHz)

Good luck.
