Kenwood TM-742A with "Rushing Sound on Transmit and Receive

I have a TM-742A and the 440 module has a rushing sound on transmit and receive. The sound as best as I can describe it is almost like a light, constant breeze blowing over a microphone. I've contacted Kenwood but they were of little help. 

If anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears.

I'm confused. You say on TX & RX but then your description makes it sound like your saying what the other person hears when you transmit. If that's the case I would check your 440 module schematics (mine is in storage so I can't look at it) and follow the audio trail. A scope would be handy here or a signal tracer. It could be as simple as reseating your connections to the module.
If worst comes to worst, I know there is a guy on Ebay that rebuilds those modules and you could probably get a good price on a rebuilt module with trade-in of your bad module. Or he might be able to tell you what is wrong with yours. Just go to ebay and do a search for KW TM-742 or 741 and you may be able to find him.
