First, many thanks to AA5TB and his web site whose plans/circuits I used. I just finished putting up a 33.3 ft vertical wire in a maple tree in my back yard, connected to a AA5TB EFHW 40-17 Meter coupler. The coupler is three feet above ground with the ground wire running straight down to a 4 ft. ground rod (no radials). I then hooked up my 20M MFJ CUB with battery power at 1.5 watts then found the 20m sweet spot on the coupler tuner and got a 1.2:1 swr. I then sent out cw CQ and was immediately answered by Alan KR4AE who was also QRP at 5 watts on his K-3. My (Maine to Georgia) rst was 549 and we had 5 minute qso before qrm nailed us. Needles to say I was thrilled with this latest antenna project. Maybe this should have been in the Antenna forum but I thought it might be of more interest to QRP homebrewer types like me.    73  Jim

Good going. QRP can bring the thrill back to ham radio.
