APRS msg on VX-8

Is it me, or would we decimate the number of text msgs flowing across the cellphone networks if only we made sending them as cumbersome and annoying as it is to try to send a message via APRS on the VX-8?

Someone sent me a msg on the APRS network here and it took the manual and about 5 minutes to get him a reply as it was just Byzantine the way you need to input text.

It sure ain't you om.  Sending aprs text messages with this radio or as bad, the ft-350 is beyond stupid.

I met up with some aprs hams who do text a lot, they had nice aprs units built from kits with full keyboard and small disply for reading the texts.
