COOKEN ARC will once again be manning W8TNX at the well-known Dawes Arboretum, in Licking County, Central Ohio,

W8TNX activity will be  SSB only,  around 7.225khz. eQSLs  via LOTW.

If you're in Ohio, think about taking a spin to see the arboretum's Spring Offerings, programs, gift shop, etc.  And maybe even have an eye-ball qso with the COOKEN gang while youre at it.

If driving  in is out of the question,  please say Hi! on 40m or via the 88 machine.

Talk-in is via the 146.88 machine in Newark.

Thank you to the 131 stations in 21 states and provinces who took the time to work W8TNX.  The LOTW logs  should be  entered within the next couple of weeks.  The downloadable self-print  commemorative certificates should be  available through QRZ.com @ W8TNX within the same period.  Just enter your QSO number ( 1 thru 131)  and go to it.

Those wishing a paper QSL please include an SASE.  But remember, certificates are self printed by you.

FWIW, it was a brutal day.  temps were in the 42-45F range.  Sleet and rain fell for 2-3 hours of the total 6 hours on the air.
Being under an open air canopy required using multiple plastic table cloths over the rig and operators to stay dry. The rig  ran 100w to a 4BTV vertical with 32 radials ( give or take.)

Our hardy operators however stayed at the mic through it all.  We even have photos of them  in action.  We also had a very special guest operator at the mic ( a stuffed beaver borrowed from a nearby group under a similar canopy.) Fifty canopies/groups of nature lovers covering gardening, local utilities, energy conservation, taxidermy, bee-keeping, land conservation,  tree climbing using ropes hung from a 100 ft tall oak ( very cool!), wood-carving, etc etc made for an interesting  day for all who braved the nippy weather.

Hopefully next year, M. Nature will see fit to bless us with some compensatory sunshine and warmth!

The folks at Dawes Arboretum couldnt have been nicer or more helpful.  They provided us with the canopy,  table and chairs, free coffee and donuts,  and mobile support for hauling heavy objects from parking to the canopy site.  If you have an arboretum near you, I think you would find your local folks very supportive to having a radio club operate during their Arbor Day festivities.  Nice, nice people!

See you next year!  Be there or be square! ...............The COOKEN GUYS.
