Engineers now believe she tilted at a 24 degree angle, unlike the 45 degrees mentioned in this article, and then broke apart straight down the middle before she sunk.

ONAIR:  Very true and also the problems with radio communication in its infancy.  It was a very convoluted start.  Somewhat like the poor bloke in these two links!
