Kenwood MB-430 Mobile Bracket for TS-590S

Does the MB-430 mobile bracket allow for mounting the TS-590 to the top of a surface (shelf) as well as hanging from above?

How much height does it add to the radio?

Looking at mounting the radio in a Go Box scenario.

A 480 would be a much better choice for this and it is  fine performer too.

Thanks, I have a 480, and agree it's a fine performer. 
This setup is more a transportable base station that will move from primary shack to motor home.

But let's not get off the question at hand regarding the mobile bracket.

Well reason I said it was mass and weight of a mounted 590. As one last side note, have you considered a MB 480 mobile bracket for 480 that lets you carry it as one piece? It even comes with a new short cable to attach head to body.
