Way to go Rich! I knew with your tenacity you would finally get there Grin

John K7KB

Thanks John! (and Harry, W6DXO) for your encouragement. The story behind this will be a guaranteed laugh during Pacificon.

Now I am just going to concentrate on CW - no more screaming into a mic - hi hi.

And good news out of Newington this morning: The 7O6T operation has been approved for DXCC Credit!

Finally worked them tonight!

I took my horizontally polarized 17/12M Nested Moxon and turned it to vertical polarization pointed 10 degrees. That's what did it.

I modeled this using EZNec, and already knew what HFTA said about the horizontal position.

I emailed my friend, Dean Straw N6BV, and he agreed that doing this polarization switch could be what gets my Q.

And it was.

If you are attending Pacificon 2012 - the Antenna Forum, this and other stories will be told. I guarantee you will laugh!

Rich...See I told you I'd get easier... Roll Eyes

But seriously...congrats.  Take a minute to savor the new one before you get on that key.

I finally got them tonight, at 0017 on 30m. After the drone strikes this weekend I was starting to get worried.

I built a 30m loop this week, and I think I owe it to that. Worked on it Thursday and Friday after work then spent Saturday morning trimming it and adjusting the feedline to get it dialed in. Glad to see it pay off. I concentrated on 30m as I figured it was my best shot since I currently run barefoot.

If you have a little pistol station don't give up, just pick your battles.

I finally got them on 15m tonight.  I was going to start trying QRO tomorrow.  Got them with 75w tonight on my windom. It only took 15 min.  Maybe there is hope for me yet Smiley

I am 0 for "lost count". Had a great signal on 20M and as I turn to it heard him say "QRZed 7O6T" He came bach with Yankee Yankee but then he declined me because he was working west coast. I must have tuned in after he said West Coast. Bummer.

Did not get close again.

You seriously need to start setting alarms and have your cluster connection e-mail you when he's spotted. My friend in Queens one-called him on 100W and a small 2-el yagi tonight; he was as close to begging as a 7O will ever be.

I built a trap dipole. Worst thing is there was so much QRM, from hams that cannot read a band plan. Even tuning up out of band.

Don't know if you have anything for 17m, but they were not very busy last night. Good luck with catching them.

Another "good job Rich". Glad you made it. And all the others who picked up their "new one".

I heard them on 20m RTTY 5/7 @02:20, pretty loud. Almost too loud. Wasn't sure if it was real or not.  WFWL.

Last log update confirmed it was real.  Smiley

I haven't heard them on 10m or 80m. 40m has been really weak, so I'm not holding much hope of a qso there.

Paul

Thanks, Paul and Tom. I "avenged" not getting ST0R last year. I whined for a while - and then did a complete upgrade of my antenna farm. I am still a little pistol - but went from "pee shooter" to "pee shooter++". It was well worth the $$$, which was only $1500, and it has made my Antenna Forum Presentation that I will give at Pacificon 2012 that much better.

I counted wrong before - I am now only 4 away from Honor Roll. I expect the ZL9 to be easy from the West Coast, and can only pray that VP8/S, KH5K and KP1 are activated. These would be four easy one's to get there, and I am all about "easy" these days - hi hi. Too bad the VK0/H cancelled - that area of the world has been easy for me (Crozet and Kerguelin were super easy for me).

Any way - I had NO all time new one's last year, only one in 2010 - so three already this year is like the best Christmas ever, and its only the beginning of May!

I will say its a real bitch once you get over #325. You just have to have the patience of Job.

73,

Rich

Don't Give Up Now...

They were calling CQ yesterday and taking all callers, including the Left Coast.

The pile-ups are waaay down.

This is absolutely your sweet spot.  And they still have 4-5 days to go.

I hope they do a bit more RTTY, especially on some of the other bands like 17M where they have seemed the loudest from my QTH. When I've heard them before on 20 meters it was just a zoo and they were not that loud at the time. I didn't stand a chance to break through the East Coast wall. One digital QSO would be icing on the cake Smiley

Me too..I have almost given up on them doing any rtty during my good prop times. I only want one rtty qso but so far I have been very disappointed that I haven't seen them on rtty at any time
