I just bought a 30L-1 amp and it loads up to 1KW input
(0.7 amps and 1500 volts).  I am using a 50-ohm dummy load.

I am getting about 500 watts out on 80 and 40,
and hardly 100 watts out on 15 and 10.  Is this
normal?  If not, does anybody have any suggestions?

Your output on 80 and 40 seems in line, perhaps you are not hitting the right load and tune settings for the rest of the bands.  The manual has a weird way of telling you to load up.  I would tune for maximum output instead.  Is this your first amp?

The lack of neutralisation can lead to very strange effects when tuning in the covnentional way. Tune as per W1QJ's suggestion.

Mine does 500-600 watts depending on the band.  Mine still runs RCA 811A tubes.  I don't know if the Chinese tubes do as well.

Thanks for the tips.

I'll use your advice and
work with the amp.

I had a mix of 811s in mine, non RCA. 3 had the plates lined up so the filament could sag into teh grid and the other had the plate at 45 degrees.

Funny thing is that 25 years ago at the Florida Hamcation hamfest, there were boxes and boxes of NOS RCA 811A at $2 each and nobody buying! I didn't have requirement then or foresight..
