Given some recent discussion about service opportunities for a FT100 and the lack of parts availablility, what is the consensus of the group?  Is a used FT100-updated by Yaesu a few years ago to a D model-still a good buy?  Or is it a risky investiment?  I do like the NB on the FT100, and some of the other features my 706 doesn't have.

Price should drive the decison. I have a 100D and love it. If your concerned about repair first make sure it works. If so then it's a gamble on how long it will work. There are a lot of rigs out there that are great radios and keep on ticking, even though they may be non repairable if broken. If the price is a good price and the radio works go for it.

The ergonomics are pretty dismal on this radio. It's just too small and the controls are too close together. I suggest you try before you buy if you can.
