I use this web page when I travel.  http://k5ehx.net/repeaters/qrepeater.php

It shows all the nearby repeaters.  Just zoom in on the area of interest and left click on the location and then choose "within 30 miles" or "within 100 miles".

I bought a OPEK UV 300, the numbers in front are not correct, but you can easily find it.
The antenna has 8.3 DBI gain on 2 meters, 11.7 DBI on 70 CM, it talks far better than a j pole, arrow and Diamond X300N antenna that I have had and used. Much, much further.
There are far away repeaters that the only antenna that will even break the squelch of the repeater let alone have a good noise floor.
The OPEK is only $100.00. I dropped it and bent and broke some pieces, Opek sent the replacement parts free, great service.

This antenna is the best kept secret there is. Some put down OPEK antennas as the quality is slightly less than say a diamond, but the guts are all the same and the antenna flat talks.
The only issue with the antenna is some people say the antenna leaks a little at the screw togather joints, just tape them up and no problems.

The antenna is 16' tall, but has had no problem with 50 MPH winds and we have had a lot of winds that have blown for days at 45 MPH, this antenna rocks. I'd buy another if anything ever happened to this one. The distance it talks simplex is amazing. Mine was only at 25' fed with about 75' of LMR 400 coax and a 50 watt radio.
