The 35LS126 lamp died on my Palstar WM150M wattmeter......no big deal, I'll contact Palstar for a replacement. Well, long story short, the 35LS126 is discontinued and no replacement! No big deal, I'll install an LED replacement, which didn't work due to LED's being a pinpoint light source causing the face of the WM150M to light up like a flashlight source instead of a broad disbursed light source. So far, everything I've tried is less than successful.....

Any suggestions for a replacement that works by providing a diffused light source and lighting the entire wattmeter face evenly from the rear and running on 12vdc?

Thanks! 73

There are LEDs with fairly wide angles. Anyway you should be able to find some fitting replacement at http://www.kenselectronics.com/lists/lites.htm
You do not need to use a 12V lamp a lower value with resistance will also do.

A little light sandpapering of the LED's plastic can "frost" the surface yielding a diffused light pattern.

Sanding, plus using two LED's in a crisscross 45 degree pattern to replace one standard lamp can work very well.

Yellow LEDs, when sanded, make a rather nice pale light on meter faces and the like.

Try Mouser Electronics for high-intensity LEDs with a flat lens.  They have, as I recall, a 120° light dispersant angle.  Use two and adjust the dropping resistors to give you the effect you want.

The 35LS126 lamp was made by Xicon and has been listed as obsolete (Mouser)

Manufacturer:  Xicon
Product Category: Lamps
RoHS: No
Lamp Type: Incandescent
Lamp Base Type: Bayonet
Lamp Size: T-1 3/4
Color: Clear
Voltage: 12 V
Operating Current: 0.06 A
Life Hours: 10,000 Hrs

CenterPoint Electronics (West Jordan, UT) HAS the bulbs for less than $2 each .. Time to Stock up !!
http://www.cpcares.com/xicon/Xicon_Lamp_Holders/35LS126.html

You could also substitute other T1-3/4 bulbs (bayonet base) at 12 Volts, 60 mA -- but may have shorter life hours.
