Ohio QSO Party-Aug 25, 2012-WW8OH from either LICKING or PERRY CO.

The COOKEN A.R.C.  "Contest Animals" will  put WW8OH on the air again this year, from either LICKING or ( Note correction to Subject line) FAIRFIELD COUNTY.   Bands will be 80-40-20-15-10.  We will be using  an 80M or 160m horizontal loop at 70 ft for  80-40 CW station, and a hexbeam for 20-15-10 SSB station.  Two or three stations will be on the air simultaneously, each running one hundred watts, The third station  will be  for 80/40 SSB.

This great twelve hour ( noon til midnight EDST)(1600z-0400z) contest always makes for a fun Saturday, with the vagarities of propagation  always one step ahead of the best laid plans of mice and men.

While we are chasing all the 88 Ohio counties on 40-80, we also look to work all other 49 US states and 11 Canadian sections, and to provide our county to as many county hunters around the US and he world as possible.  

Listen for us around the  designated  center frequencies for each band and mode.

2010:  481 QSOS/50 OH counties/105,247 pts/3rd Place multiop
2011:  761 QSOS/  80 OH counties  /202,554 pts/2nd place  multiop
2012:  ......umm 1000/88 ?

UPDATE:   The COOKEN CONTEST ANIMALS have  decided upon  FAIRFIELD COUNTY, OH as our  QTH for the OQP on Aug. 25th.

We will be operating three  100w. stations on:
1. 80/40 ssb with a horizontal 160M loop at 70 ft.
2. 80/40 cw  with an inverted L at 45 ft.
3. 20-15-10 ssb with our new hexbeam.

So we will not only be  hunting all 88 Ohio counties, but looking to give out contacts with Fairfield County with stations  all over the USA, and beyond.

The troika of WW8OH stations covering 80-10M racked up  781 qsos in conditions that rivaled last year, or  were not even that good.

Our effort from Fairfield County is now history, and its time to prepare for the upcoming OSPOTA Contest on Sep 8th from Buckeye Lake State Park.

My question is what logging software is most compatible with the State QSO party contests? I did the Ohio QSO Party contest last week, and all my contacts were written on paper, and I need to computer log them and send in my Cabrillo log file. I just need a simple program for right now. Any ideas on PC programs?

Probably the logging program that covers the most QSO parties is GENLOG by W3KM. It doesn't do radio control or anything like that, just logging, which is fine for me.  It is free besides!  I used NA for the Ohio QSO party as it is my usual logging program and it supports the OHQP. 

I had a great time last weekend in the contest and made my second highest score ever in it.  Can't wait until next year!

Our club uses N3FJP software.  He has a  general logging program as well as  numerous state QSO Party modules, FD, etc..

Ive used Logger 32  for  20+ years for my home logging software.   N1MM is another good popular one.
