The team which activated 1A0C will activate The Vatican, HV5PUL for a couple days!  If you need it, here is your chance. I have it confirmed, but can use bandfills!  Grin 73, Gene AF3Y

From the 1A0C website:

"Today the team is in Rome for a rush in HV5PUL, a couple of days of relaxing dxing before come back home. Do not expect the same rhythm from the Vatican. We are not there for a real dxpedition, but it is just a cherry on the cake for the team members."

I need this one for mobile. My problem has been getting through EU and east coast. I have heard  HV stations six times in a year and a half. At times S9 here, but they always QRT before I can get a QSO. So HV5PUL makes the 5th and 6th time this has happened. Yesterday HV0A was near S9 on 15M when he says QRT and CW for tomorrow.

Bummer....he is on 12M CW and 12 is dead here. Then HV5PUL shows up on 15M. I was already tuning 15M as it was open to Italy. Yep I found them, but only S5 that early in Texas. Also found them on 17M SSB. Not even any stateside calling, but too weak for me call to get through EU and ASIA they are working.

When did they quit today ? 1545 UTC ? I need them to stay QRV later or work some numbers.

Well at least I got to drink a strong Starbuck's coffee while out.

This is getting frustrating trying to get ONE HV QSO !

I need this one too.

A quick look at W6ELProp shows that with the current Solar numbers of SFI 164 and K 3
the MUF will be between 18.5 and 22mHz which points to 20M as the best option followed by 17M.

Since the 1A guys will probably be operating on much more relaxed "business hours" schedule
this will be catch as catch can.  You Right Coast guys could have a shot.

I heard Francesco operating as HV0A the other day and the EU / Right Coast wall was huge.

HV0A was on yesterday.  I worked him on 15 SSB. He said he was going to be on CW today, but I was not QRV.

Was trying yesterday but the EU wall was incredible. No worries, I have them confirmed and in my DXCC record on 20 ssb but the challenge points would have been nice. Smiley

Vatican would be an ATNO for me.  I have only heard them once and I wasn't able to break the pile up with a simple antenna.

Worked after two calls (the first not being where he was listening) with 100W at roughly 0600z on 20m CW from NJ. Piece of cake.

This still looks like a WAE effort. They are already QRT today. Maybe they will fire back up later when conditions are more favorable to more of the U.S. (dream on)

I chased them last night too, as in the day before, and HV0A the day before that. Sigs were only S5 on both 20 and 17M. Not enough to get their attention from the hordes they were working. Which I could mostly hear too.

A thousand miles closer would make a big difference ! hihi

This is getting to be the pits. Plus my eyes are tired from being up late ! Nothing to show for it. Oh did work V73NS one call.

I think the issue for us non Right Coasters is just the time of day differential.

Rome is +9 hours from San Francisco (PDST). The HV station was QRV beginning about
11:15pm  PDST last night, or just after 8:00am local time in Rome.

Their operating schedule is just not going to favor most of the world outside EU.

After the great effort by the 1A0C team I don't begrudge them a more relaxed operating schedule...

I still need them all the same  Grin
