Speed building while driving?

I have listened to CW in the car for several years. There is a website that has CNN Headline News in CW.  I have it on my iPhone. I listen to it probably half the time I am driving to and from work. I also have the Ham Morse app on my phone. I plug the phone into the stereo and listen for 15-20 minutes.
This has enabled me to learn to copy in my head (to some degree at least) and start having nice CW ragchews on the air while I sit back in my chair and relax instead of hovering over a pad of paper trying to write down everything the other guy is sending. 
I haven't been really dedicated to it or I am sure I would have made much better progress. I pay about half attention to it. I will copy for a minute or two, my mind wanders..................
But, it has really helped me and I haven't felt that it is a dangerous distraction.

If you know the code and you're just listening to the words then it's probably going to be no more distracting than listening to voice radio. However, if you're trying to learn the code (or learn to read it faster) you're likely to have to concentrate on it a bit more, and that'll be a bit more distracting. Road conditions and familiarity will also affect the distraction level you find tolerable.

If I'm on a motorway in light traffic (or very slow, or moderate traffic on a familiar route) then I can try listening to morse from a known source. Even so I'll probably only catch a third of it...

That's exactly where I want to be and what I'm working towards.  The whole "writing" thing is as-bad as the "keyboard" thing.  I want to get past all that and just be able to talk to people.
