Ham contesting has ossified so that I've pretty much lost interest in it. Perhaps we should take cues from the wildly successful London Olympics.

How about opening ceremonies before the CQWW?

From NBC we get the idea that all important operation should be during prime TV hours.

More QRPp classes, similar to the 10 meter air rifle?

Synchronized operation, with points for young men in shorts way-too-tight?

A giant glowing 3-500z as the torch?  Maybe both technical and artistic scoring for exchanges?

The Olympics are held every two/four years.  The WRTC is held every four years.

Qualifying events, tennis tournaments, track and field events, dressage, swimming competitions are held every day of the week,

If you want contesting to be like other sports (and have a contest every day of the week), just say so.

Even so there would be thread after thread complaining about it.  We'd hear from the poor soul whose opportunity to operate is once every four years and it would only  be possible during that two week period.  Four years later he'd turn on the radio again to find the bands crowded with contesters.  Every time he wants to operate, there's a contest going on!
