The scary part? I wasn't even trying for CY9M on any bands other than 6, 10 and 160. I just called when they were in a lull most of the times. I don't rent the shack out, but you're welcome to come over for a few hours if something hot comes on the air that you need.

I wouldn't be surprised if your QTH sits on top of solid iron ore.

Ha! I wish!!
The sad reality here at Casa-IRT is that I'm badly blocked from northeast to south by a ridge immediately east of me. I fight for the weak ones out of the South Atlantic and Africa, and have trouble hearing weak stations in Europe in contests. My takeoff angle is over 8 degrees in those directions.

On the other hand, I have a clean takeoff to Southeast Asia, Japan, VK/ZL/Pacific and the U.S. My array sits 330 feet ASL and the ground sloped down to ~80' ASL from 020 all the way anticlockwise to 230. So a 1 degree takeoff angle, 6dB gain over dipole, 23dB F/B and an ERP of roughly 6kW...yeah, I can be heard in Asia from time to time Grin

But with all that said, S2, VU4, 9M6, and most of the western bits of Zones 26 and 28 are just killers for me, and why, when XZ is finally activated, it's going to be a tough slog. That path is pretty well directly over the north pole (or worse, the magnetic north pole).

I think that's going to be true in both directions Smiley  My QTH in Yangon is right amongst the narrow streets, slums and shop-houses on the south-side of the city, so to stand any chance of getting my signal out, I'll have to erect my ax on the building roof, about 6 floors above me.

Let's hope for small miracles Smiley

Simon, please be sure to email a scan of your XZ license to NC1L at the ARRL so that your operation is considered valid, if you have not already done so.

I will certainly do that when I get my new license in Yangon.  But if you are referring to my previous license (XZ1K) which I used whilst in southern Myanmar, then I'm afraid that it is too late.  I contacted the relevant ARRL email address as soon as I was issued with that license earlier this year, but apart from a brief confirmation of receipt of my email, I received no replies to my validation enquiries...

Now I'm no longer in south Myanmar and without immediate access to my XZ1K license, (which is held by the local military boss in that region).

So .... when I receive my new XZ license and email the ARRL, I would hope that someone can reply to my mail....

(Rant over)

Simon, you can email your XZ1K license to me, and I will personally ensure that Bill Moore gets it. Without accreditation, any of those XZ1K contacts do not count for DXCC.  You can email to me the same copy that you had previously emailed to the ARRL.
