RFI on KIDDE CO detector

Hey folks,

I am getting an RFI problem on 40 meters to a Kidde CO detector.  I put some ferrit beads on the internal leads but it did not cure the problem.  Any suggestions?

Thresholding this type of problem can help. With no ferrites increase TX power until the problem occurs. Then add ferrites and test again. If the power level at which the problem occurs has increased you on on the right track.

Or, you might try a different brand of CO detector.

See http://www.nk7z.net, select "RFI Mitigation" from the right menu, and then select "RFI at my Home QTH".  I have been fighting this sort of RFI for two years now...  It is a rather long diatribe on the RFI, and has some hints/reviews of RFI hunting gear.

Mine kept getting set off too.  I formed a disc of aluminum foil around the top of the detector (it is a ceiling hardwire mount type) and all my problems went away.  My AH-4 antenna tuner was the culprit as it was radiating inside the QTH on 10 meters.
