Sid was a wonderful ambassador for Amateur Radio in Ethiopia and he will be missed in the DX'ing community. Rest in peace Sid and my condolences to his friends and family.

What a loss. I had been trying for a while to have a QSO with him. Now I never will. Broader then that, what a loss for AR and Ethiopia...

I worked ET3AA a few years ago (never got a QSL). I understand that Sid is responsible for getting hams licensed in Ethiopia, which is a good thing.
RIP

Terrible loss to the ham community, for certain. I worked him twice. Last year on 20 SSB and in 2008, for a new mode, on RTTY.

I worked Sid many times as well as kids from his club station. His legacy is all those young Ethiopian hams he mentored. I hope the Ethiopian government makes it easier for their own citizens to use amateur radio.
I also have Sid's QSL which has a picture of him. He looked like a big jovial guy which is how I have seen him described.
It's a very sad loss. My condolences to his loved ones.
