Hi,

Does anybody have any idea about what I would expect to pay for a nice working Icom IC-970H or the UX-98 or UX-97.  I can't find very much info on past sales especially for the UX-98.

Thanks a lot, 73, Roger, N7YV

The Icom UX-98, 2.4 GHz model is a RARE option, especially outside of Japan.

The Icom IC-970 was definitely a radio "ahead of it time" for the US market.
Sadly, it was discontinued in 1990s a few years before the Icom IC-910H was offered.

In these days Icom was much more ham radio oriented than today. Due to the price most of the units were sold to government agencies.
I found a UX-910 1.2 GHz module for the IC-910 new for 500$ plus shipping from Taiwan.

I bought my UX-97 and UX-98 modules on two separate auctions on Yahoo Japan this year. I had been looking for a couple of months and realized that my best option by far would be to buy them directly from Japan. Even though they are not cheap there, the prices are much better than in Europe or USA. And since they are auctioned it's possible to get a fare price, if you have the patience to wait for the right moment. (When I say fare price you have to keep in mind that these modules have become collectors items by now.)
From what I have seen the UX-98 modules this year have been sold for around 100 000 - 130 000 yen. The UX-97 from 30 000 yen and up.

One problem with Yahoo Auctions Japan is the language (if you don't happen to speak Japanese). I can recommend this site, which I have used myself:
