I recently posted a WTB ad on QTH for a loop tuner and got a hit back from a person named Roger J86BW.  Has anyone ever heard or dealt with him?  And while I am not an expert on callsigns, I do not recognize where in the world J86 might be(no entry on QRZ either).

Anyway, my red flags went up. I am not trying to bash a potentially legitimate person, but I at least would like to have further confirmation of who this guy is or if anyone has dealt with him/her.

Steve,

hamcall.net say the J38 prefix is Grenada/West Indies.

You want to buy a loop tuner, an item that pretty much only a licensed ham would need. You got a response from a guy who is either unlicensed or is hiding his call. If I were you, I'd trust my instincts and ignore the email.
