Worked All Provinces of China DX Contest

It's this weekend.

In my 4 years of being a ham I never even once heard a station from China. I'm able to reach Japan, VKs and ZLs but not much else in Asia from Ohio. I just passed the Extra exam, maybe those extra frequencies will help.

Anyone have some advice for me? I have 100 watts SSB, with a small beam at just 20 feet.

Polar paths are hard and most of the stations in Eastern china are going to be polar paths for you or me. e.g. from my QTH to Beijing is 350 degrees.

That said I've gotten a handful of China/Taiwan stations in the past year, usually on 15/12/10 in mid-morning local time.

Some of the more western Chinese provinces being activated for this weekend, may be easier if the path is less polar. e.g. More like JT Mongolia or Asiatic Russia or the Stans (Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan) where the path is like 24 degrees.

Great! Getting western China on an Asiatic Russian type heading means my little beams will be pointing a little north of west a lot tomorrow. That's my direction to Oceania.
