Anyone using a Heil PR-781 with a Yaesu FT-950. If so, what kind of audio reports are you getting and what adjustments have you made to the menu?

Thanks,

Hi Jim

I use one with a Ft-920. And a Ft-767gx. Great mike.
Straight in to the 767, good reports. Good range, and reproduction.

The 920 even better, as I can alter the audio, and carrier point somewhat. You won't be sorry.

There's a lot of good material on the Heil website about setting up transmit EQ.  The PR-781 is, I think, a PR-40 with reduced low-frequency response, and it has excellent reviews on this site, used with a bunch of different rigs.

The FT-950 has a 3-band parametric transmit EQ, so you can make the mic sound however you want.  Start with:

http://www.heilsound.com/amateur/settings/yaesu_settings.pdf

That suggests substantial bass cut, and an 8 dB boost centered on 2100 Hz.

It's _your_ voice, and you'll need your own receiver, or a trusted ham at the other end of a QSO, to get the sound right _for you_.
