Ever hear of this place???...Saw a blurb on the Ohio Penn DX bulletin about how "Sealand" was declared a sovereign state by some British officer (who, after reading this story, I am under the impression was a little be nutso koo koo)....using the prefix 1S or S1, does anyone know if this was even on the list??...It supposedly had a currency and stamps and a passport and constitution....Look at it...It's a fricken oil rig.....Does this look more like a DXCC entity than Scarboro Reef?Huh?.....(another "challange" for ya Geno (AF3Y).......Unbelieveable....

Its funny, I have heard about that, and there would be no way in hell it would ever have qualified as a DXCC entity.

But its a great story . . . .

NPR just did a piece on this yesterday.  I believe it was in remembrance of the founder who just past away if I'm not mistaken.  Here's the link to it.  Hope the link works.

I doubt it will ever be considered a DXCC entity unless ARRL BoD decides to pull another Scarborough on us and vote it thru.

Britain doesn't really recognize its sovereignty either. What's next, oil rigs as DXCC entities?
