Greg -
As you noted, the matching paint business no longer has a number of former suppliers.
Mike Shelton, NC Total Electronics has not sold paint for a number of years.
Dee C. Almquist, W4PNT (sk) formerly provided reprinting, restoration, and silk-screening for EF Johnson equipment.
Glen Zook, K9STH provides the paint formula for Boatanchors, here:

My notes indicate that these sources for the maroon color have worked for other restorers --
CHECK with your local Sherwin Williams or Auto Paint (PPG, BASF) outlets.
For E.F. Johnson Maroon color (dark maroon on Ranger)...
It was suggested to use Plasti-Kote auto paint, GM7191
I received this recent suggestion, from another amateur to look at:
Dupli-Color Auto Spray paint DSGM353
(General Motors: 1994-1997, DARK RED, Color Code: 8529)
The 5 oz. spray can sells for $ 5.99 at most auto parts/supply stores.
This color is very close to the deep maroon with a bit of metallic finish, common with many Dupli-Color paints.

Johnson paint formula:
http://www.emmittsfixitshop.com/Projects_Pacemaker.htmlThe following is the Sherwin Williams formula for the older maroon and gray paint scheme.
Both use the 32 oz Ultradeep base, either acrylic 6403-25981 or oil 6403-25775:
Johnson Maroon: B1 black=22, R3 magenta=6, R4 new red=8
Johnson Gray: W1 white=19, B1 black=25, N1 raw umber=14, R2 maroon=1

Since the passing of Dee, W4PNT (sk),
Chuck Hurley, K1TLI is providing complete electrical restoration, painting, and screen printing for EF Johnson radios.
