Why I do want a KX3

Mainly because in this forum, I was informed Flex radios are worthless and to be avoided, but I enjoy the Flex 1500 so much I bought a Flex 3000. I haven't found anything really wrong with the 3000 yet.

I still think the KX3 is overpriced, but I want to add it to my small collection of portable rigs. It can't be any worse than the FT-817ND, which is my favorite portable shack-in-a-pack. It certainly can't be any worse than my SG-2020 ADSP which will be hard to beat for low power HF phone and simplicity.

Field Day 2013 will most likely have a KX3 as the centerpiece.

You have went and talked nicely about
three radios that EVERYONE knows are
just plain junk!! 
Just kidding! I have a Flex 1500 and enjoy
using it too. And at some point I'd like to
add a 3000 to my collection.
As for the KX3, it looks like a neat radio.
But, I am not quite to the point I want one.
I recently bought a Yaesu FT-1000MP MKV and
am having way too much fun with it at the moment!
Good luck and enjoy your radios. They all have their
pluses and minuses.

Well said, each has pluses and minuses.

I own FT817ND and Flex 3000.  I won't part with either, but each has its own uses and quirks/advantages/unique elements.
