It is interesting that Army MARS, while yanking their support of civil agencies, state and local and corporate, continues to support a particular non-profit organization with communications.  I wonder where this fits into to their charter?  I'd like to hear that.

Steve, thanks for your question.  To which non-profit organization are you referring?

Army MARS is continuing to provide Defense Support to Civil Authorities (DSCA).  Yes, we are no longer issuing MARS "licenses" to civil authorities but are reworking our processes to support "incidents" with MARS resources.  When you read the DOD policies regarding DSCA, it is clear that DSCA was never intended to be full time support that is provided.  What is intended is that when an incident occurs and support is needed and requested, support to the civil authority would be provided only for the time until their communications systems are able to handle the communications volume.

It would be nice is the powers that we be would let the peons in the government agencies (aka "Civil Authorities" know what they plan to do. As for what I read here, they have licenses (calls) but now can't use them.

Army MARS... WHAT A JOKE!
