In my slow quest to obtain a permanent operating licence here in Yangon, I was wondering when the last permanent activation in XZ land occurred.

Perhaps some old-timers could check their logbooks?

I know there have been short-term, DXpeditions in the 90's and early part of this century, but my only resource for the last, permanent, licenced ham is the hamgallery web-site and the QSL card of XZ2SY in 1962.

I'd appreciate any input about this.  At my Yangon QTH, I'm receiving some good signals on 20 metres with my simple antenna and I'm keeping my fingers (legs, everything etc) crossed in the hope that my latest application route for an XZ licence will prove fruitful.

In 2009, Tom KC0W was in XU and trying to find out about licensing in XZ. He had no luck.

At that time, I found this;

MYANMAR Burma Amateur Radio Transmitting Society [BARTS]

The Myanmar website looked real nice and all. Looked like they were putting up "a good front" for the world to see.

Here is the thread about it. The story is rather short.

I wish you the best of luck! A lot of us need XZ!

In 2003, I worked XZ7A on 30, 20 and 17M - all CW:

I also worked XZ7A back in 2003, CW on 14 MHz only. QSL via DL7DF.

Thanks for the replies, but all of those operations were short-term DXpeditions.

I want to know when the last permanent operation/licenced ham existed in Myanmar.

Thanks
