VFO Cable connector for Kenwood TS 520

I am a new Ham. I recently bought a Kenwood TS 520. It came with an external VFO, but the cable to connect the VFO to the rig did not come with it. After checking all recommended web sites, I am unable to find the parts or a cable. I would appreciate any advice or suggestions. I understand, perhaps incorrectly, that I need the external VFO to operate the rig. Thanks KD8TFM

You don't need the vfo to operate the rig, but you do need it to work split frequency. You might find a cable at one of the local hamfests, ususally in someone's junk box.  Good old radio you have. Tune it up correctly by the instructions and if you are using a tuner such as an MFJ tune for max noise on receive and the tuner will be close to where you need it for transmit. Good luck with it and go work some DX.

you can build your own cable if you want,
or there is a guy on ebay selling them.
the 9 pin connectors are available.

if you are not using the external VFO you will need
to verify the 9 pin plug is inserted at the rear of
the radio, otherwise it will not pass the 9v to the
vfo circuit.

If it is missing you can jumper pins
8 and 9 at the socket.  Details on page 10 of manual.
