This morning I snagged Laura 3A2MD on 20m via LP.  She was not very strong and I'm glad she hung in there for me.  This one along with Vatican have eluded me for a long time.  Yesterday I worked Vatican and today I got Laura.  Now I have every European entities worked except Mount Athos.

Congratulations! That is a tough one.

I have listened on LP (probably the only path to here because of their terrain), but nothing! Even made skeds and could hear nary a peep!

Thank you.  She was indeed weak and that probably helped me to some extent.  There weren't that many callers and she was very patient with everyone to get their correct callsign.  If 3A2 is a difficult entity for NA I wonder why there hasn't been a major dxpedition there with a focus on NA.  I'd be glad to make a donation so that I could get 3A2 on multiple bands.

Congratulations Jonathan!  I've only heard them with a good signal once in the past four years and that was a portable station.  All the other times just above the noise.

I still need it and Vatican City. I did get San Marino last month.

I still need Albania, is it very hard or am I just unlucky?

Congrats!

Monaco still eludes me. I have yet to hear them when they are on.

I saw the Vatican was on yesterday. They were coming in nice and strong on 15m phone but I could not break through the pileup.

There is more activity from Albania than from Monaco, most recent large scale operation was in September 2012 from a team of Czech DXers. There is also some sporadic activity by resident hams.

I have never heard Monaco.
That is my last European entity to snag.

I heard somewhere that there are mountains west of the Principality
that make it difficult for RF to get from there to the US.
Have to look that one up someday.

For those of you who are still seeking Monaco, there are a couple of operators going there this week for a DX'pedition. From the Daily DX:

"3A/ON5UR and 3A/ON8AK, Max and Marc, will have Monaco on the air
November 9-17, SSB on 80-10.  3A/ON5UR will be uploaded to LoTW as
soon as M0URX receives the logs.  3A/ON8AK is getting his own LoTW
account; M0URX plans to show him how to get his certificate to upload
ASAP.  QSL to M0URX."

I worked Laura last year in December via 20M LP so this seems like a good time to work them.

Nice job, Jonathan!  She is always very weak here in MA. I have never worked Laura. I've heard her a few times but I couldn't break the EU wall.

My QSOs and confirmations with Monaco go back to 1991 and 1992 when I worked John Cooper, 3A2LU.  I see the reports were not strong but I was using a lousy antenna back then although I did have the SB-1000 amplifier which uses a single 3-500Z.

Thanks.  I always wanted to work Monaco and my opportunity and luck finally came.  The Vatican was another hard one for me and I was just at the right place and time.

There is a story about a German Ham who was arrested working portable from 3A a while back, I think it's a tricky place for non locals to operate from,
