If your looking to build your own, there
are some spiffy kits out there.
The Elecraft W1 computing wattmeter/ SWR
Bridge is nice in that it displays
power and SWR simultaneously. It uses
two LED bar graphs and is quite accurate
even at QRP levels. There is an aftermarket
case available for it, I forget who, but you can Google
it. The link to the Elecraft W1 is:
http://www.elecraft.com/mini_module_kits/mini_modules.htmRadio-Kits.UK offers a
very reasonably priced
digital PIC Chip/Backlit LCD wattmeter/bridge kit.
http://www.radio-kits.co.uk/Go to the above link and click on
"Digital SWR Meter" (on the left side of
the page). You will have to roll
your own enclosure from scratch.
This is a very cool and accurate little project.
Ten Tec offers a meter kit complete with cross
needle meter and enclosure. But it is a bit
pricey at $159.00 .
http://www.tentec.com/categories/Kits/?sort=featured&page=2I have built and own the Elecraft W1 and the
Radio-Kits.UK meter. Both are accurate, with
the nudge going to the Elecraft. But the RadioKits
meter is more versatile. I built a Ten Tec kit meter
a long time ago and it was no very accurate. But
it looks nothing like the current model. So maybe they
re-engineered the whole meter.
Good luck and have fun!
