Same thing over here. Maybe with 50Hz it takes longer, though!

I think the fact I was using heavy gauge copper wire is what caused me to think the board was vibrating. In fact it probably was, but the vibration was being introduced from the DC leads. 

I have talked to a few others since my intial post, and this is the first time they have heard of such a thing! Glad I have it resolved, and to be honest I think a bit of luck was involved.
