Right you are Fred! I brought in my car battery and hooked up the Kenwood and it seems to operate normal. I did notice that when I left the power supply on (but nothing connected) that I still had a slight buzzing from the speaker. When I turned it off the noise was gone. So maybe some RF from the power supply. I guess Pyramid wasn't a good choice. No wonder it was so cheap! I'm looking at the MFJ-4225MV 25amp. ($100) If the MFJ units are junk then I could pick one up at Ten-Tec but they're not cheap ($180)
Glad it was something simple. I didn't really feel like taking the radio apart!
