Any creative ideas to working SV2ASP/A from West Coast?

2 GS worked for me.  Sent 9 July, received 10 August, 2012.  Confirmed 17 CW and 20 RTTY QSOs.

I found out (the hard way) that GS are the way to go to get a QSL from Monk Apollo.

Over a 5 (?) year time frame, I sent 2 or 3 SASE requests with Greek postage and got nothing.  After reading a post that GS worked well, I figured I had nothing more to lose than a couple of bucks and stuck 3 or 4 GS in with my card and, bang, within a couple of weeks had a card.

Lesson learned...Mt Athos has its own post office and stamps:

I just worked Monk Apollo at 10:20 today on 10 RTTY  .
Theres no info on his QRZ page about what should accompany a QSL card..should I send an IRC or Green Stamps (and how much would you recommend).

Norman, congrats on the contact!  I sent an IRC the first time and later I sent $5 US with instructions to use the excess as a contribution to the Monastary funds. I got my card back in a few weeks.

Yes, it is probably easier to meet Monk Applon than to work him from the W. Coast, however it is difficult to even get an invitation to visit Mt Athos.

I did have a brief visit with him and we exchanged "eye-ball" QSL cards with a nice note on each to remind us of our meeting. I will post pics soon on my website.

Ditto here on the QSL card turnaround - three weeks.  Sent him $5 in a self-addressed air mail envelope, since I needed his card BADLY for my march to Honor Roll.
