Tonight may again be a BUST !
They are on 10.125 and I have a HUGE
NOISE "Bubble" that starts at 10.1235 and extends
to 10.126, right on top of where they are.

DAMN !!!

I decided to stay up instead of setting an alarm.
Not worth getting 1.5-2 hours of sleep before the alarm went off.

Maybe it will go away...Maybe it WON'T too.

I was not sure he answered me, all I heard was LIX
and I took a chance.
Now to see if it hits their log, but if you (K0RS) heard it too,
I should be OK.

I still have the horrible noise, but it diminished enough
for me to starting hearing them around 0830z.

Yinz watch (yinz...Pittsburgheese for y'all)
tomorrow they will be gangbusters on all the high bands
and sound like locals.
That is the way it is with me,
when I finally work the new or gud DX, later that day
or the next day they seem to POUND in when I was
sweating bullets trying to hear them
the previous day/days.

He came back "LIX?" but clearly got the "KB3" on the next transmission.  He's been S9 here on 30m for hours.

I just worked ZL3IX on 1826.5 kHz @0800Z and I'm gnashing my teeth they aren't on 160m...arrgghhh.

Well right now, about 9:45z, they were on 160m, but Nothing heard here in NC. I heard some W6, W7 and USVI
station work him. He was there for like 15mins and then left. He should instead be on 80m and is not.

The same on 80m. They came up around 0700z and were there for less than 15mins and then left.

I guess after 4 days of poor sleep, it is time to call it quit. No predictable pattern apart from  cw and phone
alternate on 40m.

The 30 meter prop to them from here on the East Coast has been amazing. I worked them on the 2nd call early Wed. morning. I haven't heard them as strongly on any other band. Just barely heard them on 15 and 12. Glad I have a dedicated 30 meter antenna up.

K4JK....when you say "early in the morning"....can you be specific?  I am planning on giving them a try tonite into Friday (my day off).  I have hrd them some on 30 and think that might be my best band.  Anyway...just wondering if early means shortly after midnight or closer to daylight?  Tks and 73....Sam W8VVE

Closer to daylight.

I heard them S7-8 here in Central VA early Tues. Morning between 1045z and around 1130z (had to QRT for work and didn't get them.) They could have been on earlier but that's when I got into the shack. You could check the spots to be sure.

Decided to wake up earlier Wed. morning to try again. I didn't get into the shack until 1030z because my dog was freaking out at some deer outside, but I saw that they were spotted again on 30 with comments like "SIMPLEX???" and "MOVING AROUND". I figured out that instead of moving just his listening frequency as normal, the op was working simplex but moving around anywhere from .5 - 1 KC at a time after working a handful of stations. To further confuse everyone he was sending "ZL9HR UP" even though he was simplex. He would also stop running stations for 3-5 minutes at as time, so a lot of people thought he was QRT, but he always came back. If you listened, you figured it out pretty quickly. Once I knew what his fist sounded like and his signal level, it was easy to bag him. Whether he just forgot to hit the split button or he was doing this on purpose is up for debate, but it was easy to work him as long as you listened to what was going on. He made some little pistols very happy Wed. morning, the stateside guys I heard work him weren't very strong. I could hear big key clicks further up in the band the whole time this was going on.

Couldn't copy them on 160 either here this morning. They were also on 80 RTTY with a good signal there.

I heard it too.  Best signal I've heard by far and worked them a few after you.  They were asking for NA which sure helped.

I saw this come across the cluster last night:

KU6W  1825.0 ZL9HR      QSX 1817  Vy weak nr SF, wrked     0942 06 Dec   Auckland & C

I heard zip at my QTH despite being on 1825 at that time.  A search this morning shows a few more spots after 1000Z.  I dunno if a couple of guys got pranked or if it was the real thing.  It will be interesting if KU6W shows up in the online log.  I worked ZL3IX @ 0800 with good signals both ways.  I gave up on ZL9HR at 1000Z.  Hearing nothing, and seeing no more spots, I thought they were off the island.

I have had difficulty copying ZL9HR on most bands.  However I noticed that my
ESP has improved when I found that I had three contacts confirmed on three bands
when I thought I had just imagined that I heard  " KA5N  59 " , then the next day they
were booming in on 15 meters.   The noise on the bands has been peculiar and it
sounds like depth charges going off or a shrimp bed tuning up  (a carry over from
Sonar days?).  My goal is to score at least one good confirmed QSO from each needed
entity, and I have been doing better that that.  So I am happy.

Today I'm pretty happy.
I finally got a 15 mtr. contact.  YOO HOO.

From my QTH in Utah I can hear them every night and every day.....
Just indiscernible enough to not be workable.  Then last night for just
a moment the heavens cleared and I got him.

I'm very new to DXing so it was very exciting for me.  The interesting
thing is I've been VERY happy with my antennas until DXing.  I'm now
seriously looking at the system and trying to improve it.
