It was an AMAZING year.  I went from 286 to 307.  Almost all were DXpeditions.  A few were "finally the prop was right" like VR2XMT.

Our fellow hams have been very active on DXpeditions (and I am very grateful!).

ATNO for 2012:

4W0VB
HK0NA
VK0TH
TN2T
XU7AEL
7O6T
SV2ASP/A
A5A
VR2XMT
CY9M
TT8TT
5U8NK
V85SS
3C6A
3C0E
PT0S
ZL9HR
3D2C
D64K
VU7M
P29NI

Lamenting the ones I missed:

XX9
9M0
Mayotte
Iran
Marion Island
Christmas Island
Laos

In general propagation was pretty good...especially on the upper bands.  Low band prop, especially 160, was not that great.  Of course, 2009 (my first season on 160) is my yardstick...and everyone agrees that 2009 season was one of the best ever.  I am finally at 8BDXCC on LoTW, just need another 15 on 160 for 9BDXCC.  Slow but persistent is the name of the game.

Finally had some time to work some EME DX on 144 MHz into EU.  What a rush with a single 9 element yagi, manually pointing it and adjusting every 10 minutes.

Set up remote capabilities and really got a chance to work them during several road trips.  It's fun to break pileups from the hotel room in the evenings before going to bed.

Snagged some EU DX on 6 with a 5 element yagi in the trees at 30 feet.[/li][/list]

Did some QRP DX work, got through to 4O3A with 500 milliwatts on 20 CW.  9000 miles per watt!

Looking forward to 2013.  I admit it is an obsession for me, not just a hobby.

DX IS!

I couldn't believe how loud he was on 40! I've got him on a few bands already and he uploads to LoTW regularly. You should see your Q up there in a week or so.

He was louder a couple of nights ago. But nonetheless he has been good these past few nights.

Now if I could get Svein on Jan Mayen I would be a happy camper. Smiley

6 brand new spankin ATNOs

HK0NA -- Malpelo
FW0NAR -- Futuna
7O6T -- Yemen
NH8S -- Swains
PT0S -- St Pete/Paul Rox
and unexpectedly, just this morning:
ZL9HR -- Campbell -- very weak copy on 20 meters at 5:50 am EST, was a real strain to make him out, but we hooked'em to wrap up the year....
Would have been more if it weren't for lack of time, lack of a big signal, and lack of sunspots.....From a DXing standpoint, though, it was a good year...

P.S. Nice to work TT8TT, 3D2C, and TN2T (among a few others that  I can't remember) for some already confirmed extra gravy.

I don't know if I can remember a year so abundant with ATNOs.  It was like getting Christmas and birthday presents every 2 months!

3D2C
7O6T
HK0NA
ST0R
T8XX
ZL9HR

In the Finally Confirmed After a Couple of Years category:
JX9JKA
RI1FJ
SV2ASP/A

When all is said and done, I'll be sitting at 314 (323)... a place I never thought I'd be when I first worked KG4 as a Novice in '78.

Frank, W1NK

(Now, if only I could get a card out of UM20Y...)

2 ATNO here in 2012-7O and E4, which is better than most recent years-other than getting "newly created countries" like the 4 PJs in 2010.  7O and E4 have both been aruond for a while.

Did get quite a few new band countries, like 5T and ZL9 for 30m, TT on 15m, D2 on 17 and 20m, and lots of new stuff on 12m and RTTY.

Lets hope 2013 is even more productive-but we will see.

There are some pretty impressive lists here, congrats to everyone.  I hope 2013 brings a bunch more ATNO's for everyone.  The year isn't over with yet but counting down.
